16 Hour First Aid Course

The outdoors is both a dynamic and hazardous environment that all participants need to be prepared for. Our two-day REC Outdoor First Aid Course is ideally suited for the outdoor enthusiast including specialist instructors, teachers and Duke of Edinburgh award candidates. The course is set up to provide essential and advanced life-saving for those operating or involved in an outdoor environment.

As a hands-on in-depth practical course, the certification meets the revalidation requirements of all major national governing bodies for outdoor sports and coaching such as British Canoeing and The Mountain Training Association.

Our experienced course providers will inspire and promote learning through a wide range of practical activities and continuous observation so that you have a chance to put what you’ve you have learnt into practice, leaving the course confident and able to act should a situation arise.

Course Content:

Areas covered on this course may include but aren’t limited to:

• The role of the first aider
• Mechanism of injury and scene management
• Primary and secondary assessments
• Basic life support procedures
• The identification and treatment of choking casualties
• Treatment of trauma, wounds, bleeds, head, chest and crush injuries
• Identification, treatment and management of suspected spinal injuries
• Burns and scalds
• Extremity injuries
• Treatment of other medical conditions
• Recognition and treatment of extremes of body temperature
• Bites, stings and waterborne viruses
• Preparing a casualty for evacuation
• Protection from cross-infection
• After action requirements of performing first aid
• Rules and regulations of best practice

Our two-day Supervising First Aid for Mental Health course has been designed to help people both recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health and how to implement strategies to support those who are affected by it. Our course aims to reduce the stigma of mental health, increase the provision of care for those suffering and provide clear and informative information on wide-ranging conditions to those who may otherwise not know about them.

Our two day First Aid at Work Refresher Course is set to ensure first aiders are both competent and maintain their skills throughout the 3 years in which their certificates are valid. The course provides the opportunity for first aiders who hold either a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate to practice and update their skills as qualified first aiders.

The course is a continuous assessment by the trainer and upon completion will renew your exiting qualification for three years.
