This award represents the first level on the Paddle Award scheme by British Canoeing. Experience your first session on the water; learning useful skills for an enjoyable paddling experience. Our highly experienced coaches aim to provide you with the basic knowledge to enable you to safely get in and out of your boat, make it move and return to your start point.

As this is your first step into the world of paddling, this award is all about choice and your personal enjoyment of the sport. You have the freedom to choose what craft you use and gain this award in.  We have years of experience in helping people take their first steps in their chosen sports, trust us to help you take yours!

Course Content:

Areas covered on this course may include but aren’t limited to:

• Clothing and equipment choices
• Lifting, carrying and launching
• Moving forward, changing direction and stopping your craft
• Active discussion of hazards and personal / group awareness
• Post session review or performance and enjoyment
• Discussion on personal future paddling, experiences and following awards

Price Per Person:

£65.00 per person, discounts available for group bookings.

• Certificate where applicable

What to Bring:

• Equipment suitable for a sheltered water environment and cold conditions
• Appropriate footwear for uneven and wet surfaces
• Lunch for the day

This course will run at a number of suitable venues throughout the year, and is available upon request to groups by simply contacting us beforehand.
