As the global effect of Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we at Lloyd Langford Expedition Training, are firmly committed to the health and safety of our team and employees and of course, to you. It’s been a hard year for us, and although 2020 started incredibly strongly for our business, we fell victim like many around the world and within our intimate industry to the collapsing economy and global shut down. As a result all outdoor education, adventure tourism and bespoke services we usually provide came to an abrupt and unprecedented halt. 

During the hardest days of the pandemic and the UK wide lockdown we chose to in many aspects of our business to ‘wait out the storm’, focusing on the desire to offer the quality provision we’re used to, rather than make what would have been in most cases impossible adaptations and compromises to the services we provide. 

However, we now find ourselves in October 2020, and although the fears of a second wave, local lockdowns and confusion over tier systems and different UK nations strategies still loom, we are emerging into the so called ‘new normal’, and we are wholly satisfied we can open our doors safely, welcome you to join us and continue to do what we do best with your best interests and health at heart. 

What Have We Done?

As part of our opening up for business we have achieved certification and the assurance mark from the We’re Good To Go, Visit Britain office. ‘We’re Good To Go’ is the official UK mark to signal that a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.

As part of this application we have completed the following steps:

• We have read and analysed all relevant Government and Public Health guidance documents and understood how they apply to our business the services we provide

• We have created COVID-19 specific risk assessments concerning all aspects of our provision and nominated a Health and Safety person responsible for checking, understanding and implementing all relevant guidance to our business

• Our employees and volunteers have been consulted with, received training on the measures we have implemented, risk assessments actioned and further communications established to keep the entire team up to date with our working processes and changes to any and all business operations

• Current governmental social distancing measures have been implemented upon all our services and in collaboration with all commercial third party venues 

• We have implemented frequent and regular processes for cleaning our business premises, our equipment and any third party venues used, and implemented processes to communicate with guests on how we are compliant with the relevant guidance

• We have implemented thorough and robust data handling procedures to help conform to UK Government and NHS Track and Trace requirements. 

• We have considered the particular needs of different groups and individuals when making all necessary adjustments and adaptations to the delivery of our services. No measures taken will discriminate directly or indirectly against anyone because of any protected characteristic we have put in place

Going Forward From Here

As part of our ongoing adaptations and implementations to our re-opening, we are also changing a number of our policies, these include but aren’t limited to:

• We are providing greater flexibility on internal course transfers to be more adaptable to your changing needs and circumstances

• We are changing our booking terms and conditions in reference to our cancelation and refunds policies to individuals who’s attendance has been directly disrupted by COVID-19

• We are freezing prices across the board for the remainder of the financial year and are actively not looking to make up losses through price hikes for the remaining period

• We are honouring prior agreed prices for services canceled due to COVID-19 so long as the original booking party re-arranges and confirms new dates by April 2021 up to a limit of September 2021 for courses and September 2022 for oversea expedition and all adventure tourism related services 

• We are limiting statutory price increases upon all courses for the financial year 2021/22 to 6% and are actively not looking to make up losses through price hikes for the remaining period

What Can You Do

Although we are now open for business we encourage anybody who does not feel entirely comfortable with the processes we have put in place to either wait it out or shop elsewhere, under no circumstances do we want anybody feeling uncomfortable or at risk at any time with us.
