Our Absolute Balkans North expedition is ideally suited to the grade 2 / 3 paddler who wants to meet new people, tick off a number of the Northern Balkans grade 3 classics and truly embark on an unparalleled adventure. The primary focus of this expedition is to paddle the Mrežnica and Cetina in Croatia, the River Una, Vrbas and Neretva in Bosnia & Herzegovina and the River Tara in Montenegro. All these rivers have a range of grade 2+, 3 and 3+ stretches providing a great challenge and an unparalleled white water road trip over 11 days.
These expeditions are run in a small group of 4 to 8 people where you can experience the benefits of peer learning and shared experiences, but the emphasis is still very much on you. As of the moment, this expedition is only available to closed groups bookings.
Price Per Person:
£1,200.00 per person, discounts available for group bookings.
Price Includes:
Lloyd Langford Expedition Training Limited provides all attendees with public liability insurance and accidental injury cover up to £5,000,000 during the course, however you are encouraged to purchase your own travel insurance policy for the duration of the expedition up to grade 4 white water kayaking.
Itinerary:
As a closed booking expedition the itinerary will vary from group to group, however the outline is this expedition will take a total of 11 days with 2 days needed for significant travel.
Equipment:
During the summer season the air temperature is high, however the river water can be quite fresh and we advise you pack appropriately for these conditions. Our guides will be appropriately equipped to lead the group under any eventuality, and therefore if you’re used to carrying significant equipment for your usual peer group we advise you take this as an opportunity to slim your equipment down.
We advise you don’t drive across the continent to join us, the week involves a significant amount of travel across the country, the majority of which involves difficult to access regions without off road capabilities and our schedule does not permit for traditional peer river shuttles.
During this expedition we have a fleet of 4X4’s and where appropriate a minibus for all travel logistics, therefore we encourage you to fly into Zagreb Airport (ZAG), Croatia and depart from Split (SPU).
For the duration of the expedition you will use our fleet of kayaks. All our boats are both modern and river worthy with attendees receiving their choice of craft on a first come first serve basis, unless any reasonable adjustments need to be made.
Kayaking equipment including paddles will need to be transported by yourselves upon your flight, however as most airlines allow sports luggage up to a certain weight to be divided across a number of bags, a whole groups paddles can be booked in under one checked in attendee.
We may be able to currier both your personal kayak and paddle to Croatia, however the timings for equipment drop off and return to the UK could be inconvenient.
It is not necessary for attendees to possess a solid white water roll, however we do expect it to be largely ‘there’ with the attitude and will to attempt it at least twice should you capsize.
If you wish to stay for any additional days in Croatia these will be need to be arranged independently.
Lloyd Langford Expedition Training Limited provide all attendees with public liability insurance and accidental injury cover up to £5,000,000 during the course, however the risks associated with paddlesport and outdoor activities are your own and through booking and accepting our terms and conditions you take responsibility for these risks.
