Our Scout Expeditions to Slovenia are full of fun, culture and most importantly adventure! On our Scout expeditions, you get the benefit of three current scout leaders who have come together to offer everything you need to take your young people on a journey of adventure and self-discovery.
Chris, David and Ross have been running trips to Slovenia for many years and with David being a Slovene national, and his father Tony heading up one of the largest scout districts in Slovenia (around 1200 members), you are in the best hands.

Day 1:
Upon arrival at your chosen airport, (Ljubljana is the closest/easiest but can also accommodate Zagreb, Trieste, Vienna, Innsbruck and Venice) we will pick you up and transfer over to our first home base of Velenje. This is David’s hometown, and where our original Scout links began over sixty years ago! After we have settled into the accommodation we will enjoy a welcome meal.
Day 2:
Time to start exploring! After breakfast, we will take a trip to Velenje city centre. Here we will visit Velenje Castle, a well-preserved building that houses a museum of art and culture from the 20th and 21st centuries, and the city's famous ski jumps.
After some lunch, we will head over to Velenje beach where we will spend the afternoon swimming in the crystal blue waters. Then, in the evening, we will enjoy a BBQ either by the lake or at a local restaurant.
Day 3:
After breakfast, we will take a journey to walk up Smrekovec where wild blueberries grow and are picked by the locals for schnapps and strudel. On our journey down we will have a traditional mountain hut lunch and strudel.
We will then pack up our kit and transfer to our next destination, the mountain town of Bovec.
Day 4:
Today we wake up in Bovec, the outdoor capital of Slovenia and home to the largest protected area and only national park in Slovenia, Triglav National Park, and the iconic River Šoca. We will take in all the stunning views, spending the day either kayaking in the River Šoca or taking a walk to see the unspoiled nature of the valley and everything else it has to offer.
In the afternoon, we will take a trip to the WW1 museum to learn about the part Slovenia and the Šoca valley played during the war. The Šoca Valley was the scene of some of the greatest Slovenian conflicts during the First World War, and this open-air museum showcases the remains of what life was like on the first line of defence. There are trenches, caverns, bunkers and more to explore.
In the evening we will enjoy a Bovec BBQ party featuring the legendary DeCosta burger that is always a favourite with Scouters!
Day 5:
Time for us to move on to our next destination and transfer just over the mountain pass down towards Lake Bled. This is home to our hidden Slovenian Scout campsite. Away from the hustle and bustle, you will find peace and tranquillity in Ribno, a settlement with beautiful views of Bled and the favourite part of the trip from our Scouter's feedback!
After settling in, we will drop you at the lake to participate in the Bled hustle challenge before returning to the Ribno campsite for dinner.
Day 6:
After waking up in the mountains, we will visit Vintgar Gorge. This 1.6km long gorge is found within Triglav National Park and is surrounded by unmissable scenery with waterfalls, pools, erosion pots and rapids. It is an absolutely stunning place to explore.
In the afternoon, we will do some white water rafting before heading for our evening meal.
Day 7:
Today, we will start with a morning hike up to the Talèz Mountain house to see the expansive views of Bled. On our return down, we will enjoy a packed lunch and have an afternoon of swimming in Lake Bled. Stand-up paddle boards and kayaks can also be rented here to journey to the only island in Slovenia, Bled Island. This tiny, tear-shaped island is home to a small museum and the historical Church of the Assumption.
Day 8:
Free time until we have to transfer to the airport and say our goodbyes. We always recommend bringing extra kneckers as Scouts love to exchange them!
