Day 1:
After picking everyone up from the airport we will journey to our first destination, the capital city of Podgorica. The city is located in the centre of Montenegro and is the largest city in the country. Here we will settle in to our accommodation and, if there is time available, we will have the opportunity for some free time exploring the city.
Day 2:
Montenegro is home to some gorgeous lakes, so today we will be making the short journey over to Lake Skadar for a boat trip and sight seeing. This dolphin-shaped, hidden gem of a lake is one the largest in all of Europe (the largest in the Balkans) and sits on the Albania-Montenegro border.
It serves as a large bird reserve and is home to many other forms of wildlife. On the shoreline you can find the small picturesque village of Karuč. Here we will experience some of the untouched beauty of Montenegro, experience culture that you can’t find in tourist hotspots, and learn about the area’s interesting history.
In the evening, we will enjoy a traditional meal followed by games and free time.
Day 3:
Today we will be transferring from our accommodation in Podgorica to Tara Bridge. From here we will take a two-day rafting trip down the Tara Canyon, wild camping along the way with food cooked over the campfire, and all equipment in raft support.
This canyon stretches over 82 kilometres, and is the second deepest canyon in Europe. Most of it is located in Montenegro but it stretches across the border into Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Tara River has crystal blue waters straight out of a fairytale, and because of its unique ecosystem it is protected under international convention.
If you do not wish to take part in rafting, that’s no problem! Those who do not wish to participate will be transported round and shown what else this area has to offer.
Day 4:
Once we have reached Kamp Grab, the final destination of our rafting expedition, we will take today to rest and relax.
Day 5:
After leaving Kamp Grab, we will make our way over towards Lovćen National Park. Here you can find the iconic Mount Lovćen; home to much of Montenegro’s history and culture. The park itself is hugely biodiverse with over 200 unique plant species. Here we will hike up to various landmarks and points of interest, and take part in the famous photo challenge for young people to exhibit to the leaders in the evening for a group prize!
Afterwards, we will make our way over to the seaside town of Budva, where we will be staying for the night. We will aim to get there in the late afternoon so swimming can be enjoyed before dinner.
Day 6:
From Budva, we will journey along the coast taking in the scenery, taking a ferry across to Kotor Bay and arriving at Herceg Novi in the afternoon. Here you will have free time to do as you wish. This town is one of Montenegro’s hidden gems and there is plenty to explore.
Day 7:
On our final full day, we will depart from Herceg Novi and cross the border from Montenegro into Dubrovnik for a walking tour in the morning. In the afternoon, we will take part in the famous DeCosta haggling challenge where the winning group will receive a prize!
Day 8:
Depart and transfer to the airport to say our goodbyes.
Lloyd Langford Expedition Training Limited provide all attendees with public liability insurance and accidental injury cover up to £5,000,000 during the trip, however, the risks associated with outdoor activities are your own and through booking and accepting our terms and conditions you take responsibility for these risks. You are also advised to purchase your own travel insurance policy for the duration of the trip, covering you for outdoor sports, personal equipment and cancellation.
