Description:

Once you’ve mastered the basics and have a couple of seasons under you belt, it’s very common to find yourself levelling out, wondering how to excel beyond your current level. This course has been designed around creating a personal 6 day program to take your existing skill set on the snow and develop it considerably through expert coaching.

Our course is run by the former Slovene National Team Member David De-Costa who will oversee all your instruction and coaching. David is one of Slovenia’s highest regarded ski instructors, with a wealth of knowledge and first hand experience in training alpine champions.

Our course is based at the Slovene Mountain Resorts of Golte and Maribor considered by many winter sports lovers to be most beautiful and technical ski centres in Slovenia. Over the course of the week, you’ll have approximately 100km of well developed pistes to choose from, fantastic restaurants and bars to dine in as well as fitness and wellness centres to rest those familiar aches and relax with friends.

So if you’re looking to sharpen up your turns, take to the steeper slopes and become independent on red slopes then this course is for you.

Itinerary:

Day 1:

Upon arriving in Slovenia, you’ll be met by the team at Ljubljana Airport where you’ll be to experience a traditional Slovene meal. This provides a great opportunity for everybody to initially get to know each other, discuss the upcoming week and enjoy some great food. From here, we’ll travel to the small town of Sostanj on the outskirts of Velenje to Turisticna Pirnat, your home for the week.

After having the afternoon to refresh, relax and explore your surroundings, a series of afternoon workshops will run focusing on information gathering, discussing you experience, goals and aspirations for the week.

Day 2:

The second day is all about suiting up, getting out on the slopes and letting everything flood back to you. Through a mixture of general skiing and specific coaching sessions, you’ll receive both one-to-one and one-to-three time with our instructors who’ll spend a great deal of time observing you, analysing your performance and building a picture of your skill set.

During the later afternoon, your time will be yours. David will remain on the slopes to continue instruction, however you’re free to enjoy the freedom of developing by yourself, measuring your own progress or calling it a day when you’re ready.

It is important when learning new skills and pushing yourself to feel comfortable and have the opportunity to relax. Both resorts boast fully equipped spas, gyms, bar and restaurants for you to chill out in and enjoy the company of new friends.

Day 3-7:

From day three onwards, the plan will vary dependant upon the pace in which you are developing. Our instructors will continue to choose the best ways to help advance your skills over the course of the week, including morning/evening photographic and video analysis sessions of your performance.

It is almost guaranteed that during an intense development week you will experience significant fatigue and muscle aches. This is not only common, but a natural process due to muscle groups being used intensively and developing. Therefore, during the mid-week point, you’ll have the opportunity to take a day off the slopes and head to Lake Bled for a change of scenery and a cultural experience. We can also book a group ‘beer spa’, wellness and individual massages experiences.

Day 8:

Upon day 8, all good things must come to an end. We’ll head as a group to Ljubljana Airport to say our goodbyes. We aim to have you leave your time with us having mastered the basics and be independent on blue slopes, buzzing to continue skiing and marking the days until the next season.

Equipment:

The winters in Slovenia are incredibly cold and can be harsh, therefore we advise coming equipped and dressed accordingly for temperatures of 0’c and substantially below both on and off the slopes. Appropriate footwear for rough terrain, deep snow and ice are also essential.

To be suitably equipped for the course you’ll need to bring thermals, a ski jacket and salopettes, or reasonable apparel substitutes, gloves, socks and eyewear such as ski goggles or sunglasses.

Should you not possess some of your own equipment, we can provide skis, boots, helmets and poles at an additional cost. To hire equipment from us, please get in contact at least 2 weeks prior to the course.

Notes:

If you wish to stay for any additional days in Slovenia these will be need to be arranged independently. travel to Slovenia’s capital city Ljubljana can be sought from the airport during the day and takes roughly an hour.
